MarketMind Sizer

The panel we built for ourselves on NinjaTrader 8: type how much you want to risk, drag the stop and the target on the chart, and it works out how many contracts to buy. On one account, or on all your prop accounts at once.

Take a closer look

Click the screenshot: it opens large, with the points marked on it.

One number to type, it does the rest

Type the most you want to risk, in dollars. Everything below that is calculated: the contracts, the loss if the stop is hit, the profit if price reaches the target. Dollar figures, not percentages to interpret.

What you are looking at

  1. Maximum risk: the dollar figure, the only thing you type.
  2. The contracts, worked out by the panel — with the real loss next to it, commissions included.
  3. The profit if the target is hit, net, and how many times your risk that is.
  4. The button: here it says SELL because the stop sits above price.

Copier

Several accounts, one single trade

If you are running more than one challenge or several funded accounts at once, the copier fires the same trade on all of them in one go — and always tells you what you are really risking.

Master account

Account 1

Entry, stop and target

  • Account 2

    same quantity

  • Account 3

    same quantity

3 accounts, $250 of risk each: $750 genuinely at risk.

No multiplier, no scaling by balance: the quantity is identical on every account, so the risk adds up. The confirmation window states it before anything goes out, along with the list of accounts involved.

The state is always in sight

There is a single row at the bottom of the panel, and even closed it tells you where you stand: «Copier — off» or «Copier — 3 accounts active». When it is on it turns blue, so you can see from across the room that the order is not going to just one account.

You choose which accounts

The master account is the one being copied from; below it is the list of the others, one per row with its own tick box. The list updates itself as accounts connect, and if you have ticked one that is not connected it says so in red: that account stays out, and it is better to know beforehand.

The switch starts off

Until you turn it on yourself, no copy goes anywhere, whatever is ticked. That is deliberate: a feature that multiplies orders does not switch itself on.

What gets copied

Only what leaves the panel's own buttons: the entry (same instrument, same direction, same quantity, at market), the stop and the target that each account gets for itself as soon as its entry fills, and the TAKE 50% AND MOVE TO BREAKEVEN button. Whatever you do by hand in the Chart Trader it never touches.

50% to breakeven, account by account

Each account works on its own numbers: it closes its own half and moves the stop to its own average entry, not the master's. It has to be that way, because two accounts never fill at exactly the same price.

If a copy does not go through, you know at once

A master in the market and a copy left behind is the worst situation there is, so it is never hidden from you: you hear a sound and a warning appears naming the account that did not get in.

Clean-up on every account on the list

When a position goes to zero, leftover orders are cancelled on every account involved, not just the master. That holds with the copier off too: cancelling our own orders when there is nothing left to protect never opens anything.

One setting for every chart

The copier is about accounts, not instruments: what you choose here applies on every chart and survives closing NinjaTrader. You do not have to tick the boxes again every morning.

What it actually does

No automation trading in your place: the decisions stay yours. The panel removes the mental arithmetic and the slips of the finger.

You never type the contracts

The panel works the number out from the stop distance and the figure you typed, and keeps recalculating it as price moves. It always rounds down: the figure you typed is never exceeded.

It works out the direction itself

Red line below price: you are buying. Above: you are selling. On entry, stop and target leave together with the order, tied as an OCO pair: when one triggers, the other disappears.

The target sets itself

Four buttons — 1:1, 1:1.5, 1:2 and free — plus a box for whatever ratio you want. The green line places itself and stays anchored to the stop: move the red one and the target re-settles to keep the ratio you chose.

Commissions, one set per account

Every account has its own rate and the panel keeps them apart: switch account and it switches too, and the auto button asks NinjaTrader for it. From then on the loss includes commissions and the profit is net — even the «times your risk» figure is the real one.

While you are in the market

Profit or loss updates on every tick inside the panel. And there is a single button — TAKE 50% AND MOVE TO BREAKEVEN — that closes at least half the position (never all of it, not even on odd numbers), moves the stop to your entry price and also cuts stop and target down to the contracts left.

No forgotten orders

The moment the position goes to zero — stop, target or closed by hand — the panel cancels its own leftover orders itself. Only its own: orders you placed by hand, or another strategy's, are never touched.

The safeguards

It sends real orders to real accounts. That is why it always starts with the handbrake on.

  • It always starts on Sim101, the simulation account, even with live accounts connected. Changing account is your move, from the dropdown.

  • Above 50 contracts the confirmation window appears anyway, even if you unticked it.

  • If a double click slips out, the second one within a second is ignored.

  • If the broker rejects the protective stop, you hear a sound and a warning appears: you are never left uncovered without noticing.

MarketMind Sizer comes with the beta. It cannot be downloaded yet: when it can, the link will appear here — no link before its time.
